What Students Are Saying About Amanda

Google needs to add more stars so I can leave a proper review for Amanda! She is an incredibly experienced and talented educator and multi-instrumentalist. She brings so much joy and enthusiasm to music, whether shes playing violin and banjo with the local folk group, inspiring a love of music teaching band in public schools, or just sharing with you her latest musical obsession

I'm so fortunate to have been a student of Amanda's in middle school band and for getting to take private lessons with her as a beginning guitar student in 6th-8th grades. Amanda has a magical gift that allows her to convey music technique while also being funny and motivating students to practice. She always made lessons fun and exciting, just spending time with her would brighten anyone's day. Now in college, I continue to enjoy playing guitar—a passion that Amanda helped spark with her positivity, patience, and enthusiasm for music and for her students.

As an adult learner, I LOVE my lessons with AmandaAmanda has adjusted lessons for me as an adult learner in ways that keep me engaged, excited, and challenged just enough to want to keep practicing (but not too much to ever get discouraged). She is able to focus in on skills I really needed to grow (bowing for example), while advancing quickly through other skills I already have (reading music) to find the perfect balance point of what I need to work on. Not only does this feel super personal, it helps keep me feeling like an ADULT learner - not stuck going through a child learners routine.!

Amanda is single-handedly responsible for sparking our son’s deep love of music. She’s an incredible teacher who not only inspires a passion for learning music but also encourages her students to be kind, thoughtful individuals. 5+ stars!

She is the most enthusiastic, caring, knowledgeable and fun teacher I know and I would highly recommend her. My son has continued to play for our county honor bands and now attends festivals and competitions across the state, and is considering pursuing music in college. I wish Amanda still lived closer to us! She is the best!!!

She is one of the best music teachers I have ever met and the best teacher I have ever hired. (For a bit of background, I hired her for our county’s symphony education program and for a non-profit summer strings education program). I believe in her and would hire her again in a heartbeat. I think the most lovely thing about her is that she really, really cares about her students.

I would be lying if I didn’t say Mrs. Lake was one of my favorite teachers. I started playing an instrument in her class, and even though I was terrible, she believed in me and that led me to end up playing a solo in a piece at the end of the year, and in general becoming so much better at music! She is such a talented teacher and great and making you feel special and that you can do whatever you put your mind to!

Ms Lake is the best teacher I’ve ever had. She taught me music which has been the greatest joy and love and passion of my life. Without her I would not be where I am today. She is the best and will continue to always change your life for the better. Like infinity out of five stars but that’s not an option apparently.

Ms. Amanda taught me guitar when I was 11 years old. She’s fun, open, and made the effort to teach me whatever song I wanted to learn even if she didn’t know it. Ms. Amanda is very knowledgeable, she’s able to pick up the chords from simply listening to the song. Our lessons were relaxed, I wasn’t afraid of making mistakes with as she is very encouraging ! Forever thankful for the opportunity to learn with her, it was a joyful experience

I love Ms. Lake so much. She was one of the best teachers I have ever had and the reason I am where I am today. The encouragement and help that she provided me changed my life in ways that I can’t even describe. I would not be in band or have the life that I have and the friends and relationships I have developed if it wasn’t for Ms. Lake. She gave me the encouragement I needed when I was already ready to quit.
